In June 2024 I spent a week at Bempton Cliffs, on the east coast of Yorkshire, photographing the gannets and other seabirds - puffins, kittiwakes, razorbills etc. which visit the UK in the summer months. Most mornings I was out on the cliffs taking advantage of the early morning light. I had also booked two boat trips to photograph the spectacle of the gannets diving for fish thrown overboard (also known as "chumming") where they can reach speeds of up to 60 m.p.h. Both trips were awesome. The most memorable incident was the most fleeting; two razorbills fighting with such ferocity that it is amazing they both survived. According to the skipper we were very lucky even to see this which makes the couple of photographs I managed to capture even more special.
